Joe Burns, the local Fundraising Manager for Young Lives vs Cancer said “When cancer strikes young lives we fight tirelessly to limit the damage it causes beyond their health. We rely entirely on donations to fund our vital work and we can’t thank all supporters enough for their fantastic funding efforts.
Enormous thanks, also, from our Chairman Sharman Birtles and all members of the Hospitals’ Choir for supporting their efforts.
Last year in Greater Manchester, Young Lives vs Cancer supported 401 families and children with cancer, giving out 311 financial grants to the value of £66,115 helping families to cope with the costs of cancer. The Cancer Costs report from the charity found that families with a child on active treatment spend an extra £700 a month.
This photograph shows the local Senior Fundraising Manager of Young Lives vs Cancer being presented with a cheque for £650 raised by the South Cheshire Morris Minor Club at the instigation of one of the Choir Members, Paul Gallagher – great achievement
In addition, the Walton Road Allotment Society also raised £333.50 again following the encouragement of Liz Hanson, another Choir Member – a very generous gesture.
Finally, thanks also to the customers of Morrisons Whitefield for raising £622 – our appreciation must go to Choir Members, Sharman, Keith ,Gwen & Alan, Anne and Martin – the bucket collectors!
Below is a very small sample of the cakes on offer at the Tea Party organised by Choir Chairman, Sharman Birtles, which raised in excess of £1,300. Special thanks must go to Hazel Murphy
